You lose the film grain, but you keep the full, uncropped frame and the sheer scale. For most viewers, this is the best realistically available option — and these rooms are rare and in high demand.

Tier 3 — IMAX Laser (non-GT)

The widely distributed modern IMAX. The screen is still huge and the sound is excellent, but the aspect ratio is 1.90:1, so the top and bottom of The Odyssey's frame are cropped. A strong choice if no GT theater is within reach.

Tier 4 — Standard Digital IMAX, CINITY, Dolby Cinema
